Am!

I am soooo nervous/anxious/excited right now. Up until today I have been able to contain my emotions and just function but I am out of wack now. I have an OB appt tomorrow but its not JUST an appt....its THE appt when I get to see the little one for the first time. I breifly heard the heartbeat a few weeks ago when I had that spotting/cramping scare but thats it. I had a bit more spotting earlier this week but decided not to call it in because I don't want to be a pest or overreact....but I am still afraid sonething can go wrong. I also have my fasting glucose tolerance test tomorrow but I could care less about that (but tips on how not to "fail" that are greatly appreciated). I just want to see it and know that everything is alright. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers ladies..especially since I have to drive 3 hours soon to get home and I don't know how safe that is with all this excitment bouncing through me.

Thanks for listening to me ramble...yet again :)

Good luck- Keep us updated.   I didn't do the glucose test so I have no ideas- other then I hear it isn't really accurate for WLS patients, and usually should be avoided / substituted for more reliable methods.

Good luck.  It's exciting to see that heartbeat and that things are progressing on schedule.

No clue re the glucose test.

I'm sure you'll be fine w/the drive...just be sure to stop every hour or so to walk around, stretch your legs, and have a drink or snack.

How exciting, you get to see your baby for the first time!  I know I was so nervous before I had my first u/s at 9 weeks, but once you see that baby, your heart melts and you know that everything is ok.   I had one at 9 weeks and it was just a little blip on the screen, but hearing the heartbeat sounded so wonderful to me.   The baby quadrupled in size by my 12 week visit, it's amazing how quick they grow in such a small amount of time!   I am going to have an u/s at 18 weeks (in just another month almost now!) to find out the sex and am so excited!

Good luck on your visit and I'm sure everything will be fine!!  I haven't had my fasting glucose test, so no advice there.  My doc doesn't do that until I'm about 25 weeks I think.

Hit goal weight of 140 at 13 months out from RNY!! 130 pounds GONE!

I did the glucose tolerance test and the surgeon told me that they get a lot of false positives on it with post gastric bypass patients because we assuredly dump on the stuff we have to drink and the reaction can look like diabetes to them.  Thats why the 3 hour fasting glucose tolerance test is what they should do if it looks like gestational diabetes.  Mine came back clean though, so I didn't have to endure the 3 hour test.  You will probably be fine.  They make you chug this sickly sweet stuff in less than 5 mins though so you will feel awful. Take someone to lean on(I took the hubbie).  I dump worst on fats, but that stuff is no joke...it will make you feel bad.

Good Luck!!!

I am suprised they are doing your gluclose test this early? Usually it isn't done until around 26 weeks? Do you have a history of GD in your family? Also- If you dump.. you should have someone go with you to your appointment.... you won't be able to drive 3 hours to get home.

If you do fail and they want you to do a 3 hour gluclose ask if you can do a 2 hour post prandial test instead... there is not "drink" to consume.. you just fast, go eat a normal breakfast, and go back. I did this my first pregnancy and past (after failing the 1 hour).

good luck :)
